Withdrawal from Contract Form

Effective from 30/10/2026

Use this form if you have the right to cancel. For most of what we make you do not have it at all — a personalised book, the audiobook that goes with it and gift add-ons from the workshop are excluded, and part 3 explains why. The wording below follows the model cancellation form in Part B of Schedule 3 to the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 (SI 2013/3134). You do not have to use the form: any clear statement that you are cancelling is enough (regulation 32(3)).

1. Where to send it

Seller: Lukáš Kantor, Company ID (IČO) 03177009, registered office Milíkov 244, 739 81 Milíkov

Contact e-mail: contact@heroofthebook.co.uk

2. Model cancellation form

To Lukáš Kantor, Milíkov 244, 739 81 Milíkov, contact@heroofthebook.co.uk:

  • I/We hereby give notice that I/We cancel my/our contract of sale of the following goods / for the supply of the following service: designation of the order or of the product, e.g. "Printed book — Anička and the Pirate Adventure"
  • Ordered on DD/MM/YYYY / received on DD/MM/YYYY
  • Name of consumer(s): name
  • Address of consumer(s): address
  • Signature of consumer(s) (only if this form is notified on paper): signature
  • Date: DD/MM/YYYY

We ask for nothing beyond this. You need not give a reason, and you need not send us a bank account number: the refund goes back by the same means you used to pay unless you expressly agree otherwise, and we charge no fee for it (regulation 34).

3. When there is no right to cancel

  • The printed book, an additional copy and gift add-ons from the workshop (a greeting card, a colouring book, a canvas print made from the illustrations in your book) are goods made to your specification and clearly personalised. Contracts for such goods are excluded from the right to cancel altogether by regulation 28(1)(b) of those Regulations. There is nothing for you to agree to and nothing you lose by agreeing — the right simply never arises.
  • The PDF book, the online flipbook and the audiobook are digital content, which is not "goods" under these Regulations. Here the right to cancel does arise, and it ends the moment we begin to supply the content — but only because, when completing the order, you expressly asked us to begin before the end of the cancellation period and acknowledged that you would thereby lose your right to cancel (regulation 37(1)(a) and (b)). Both of those must happen; if a trader fails to obtain them, the consumer is not required to pay anything for what was supplied (regulation 37(4)).

None of this affects your rights if what you receive is faulty — those are set out in the complaints policy and cannot be signed away.

4. Time limits and refunds

Where the right to cancel does apply (a gift voucher, see part 5):

  • The cancellation period is 14 days. For a service or digital content it runs from the day the contract is concluded (regulation 30(2)); for goods, from the day you or someone you nominate takes physical possession of them (regulation 30(3)).
  • If we failed to tell you about the right to cancel, the period is extended by up to 12 months (regulation 31(3)).
  • We refund all payments received within 14 days of the cancellation, including the standard delivery charge; we do not have to refund the extra cost of a faster delivery you chose (regulations 34(2) and (3)).
  • The cost of sending goods back is yours only where we told you so in advance (regulation 35(5)).

5. Gift vouchers — here you can cancel

A gift voucher is neither goods made to your specification nor digital content we have begun to supply, so neither exclusion applies to it. A consumer may therefore cancel the purchase of a voucher within 14 days without giving a reason, provided it has not yet been redeemed (see the terms and conditions, art. 13). Use this form for that too.

6. How to send the form

  • By e-mail to contact@heroofthebook.co.uk — paste the completed form into the body of the message; the cancellation takes effect when the message is sent (regulation 34(1) counts from that notification).
  • By post to the address of the seller's registered office given above.

7. A faulty book is something else

If your printed book arrived damaged or faulty, this form is not the route. File a complaint instead — your rights there come from the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and they apply even where there is no right to cancel.

Required by law

Cancelling an order

You can withdraw from the contract right here — no letter, no explanation needed. As soon as you send the form, you'll receive a confirmation at the address you give us, with the full content of your withdrawal and the date and time you sent it.

One thing up front, so it doesn't catch you by surprise. For a book made to order to your specifications, and for a digital book whose creation began at your express request, there is no statutory right of withdrawal. Withdrawal mainly applies to a gift voucher that nobody has used yet. We'll always record your notice, and we'll always reply to it.
